Very friendly staff, great food, fast service, clean bathrooms, right here in Iowa! Everything is just fantastic here and it is a pleasure to be a pescatarian and eat here. This is a picture of the seafood platter.
Absolutely loved the Hawaiian BBQ Chicken and the Spam Musubi. Reminded me of Hawaii! The ample amount of chicken, rice and pasta they provided was well worth the cost, and tasted great. There's plenty of room to sit and has a quick take out service as well. The staff were very friendly and considerate. Looking forward to trying more of the menu.

Going through Des Moines, IA warrants a stop at Alohana Hawaiian Grill. Besides getting the BBQ mix plate, I also ordered eggrolls to go. The eggrolls are really lumpias and they did not disappoint me. They lined the container with foil, which keeps the lumpias hot during the drive. After 1 hour, they were still very hot to the touch, even with the air conditioning on during this whole time. I have never been disappointed here and hope the quality continues for a long time.
It was great. Sorry I waited so long to try it. Musabi was excellent and I would say probably the best crab ragoons I've had.

Everything I've ever eaten at Alohana Grill in Ankeny has been flavorful. The seafood combo was no exception. My BF had the BBQ plate and I swiped some of his chicken and pork and it was tender, slightly sweet and delicious. My short ribs, fish and shrimp were delicious, I can't pick a favorite. I really like their macaroni salad and it was especially good with the proteins. If you haven't tried them, you're missing out. It's a cute place where you order at the counter and then choose a seat. Once your food beeper goes off, grab your cutlery, sauces, and drink and dig in. They're always friendly and helpful if you're not sure what's what.
Ono (delicious) is the best way to describe the food here! If their goal was to serve meals as authentic to the Hawaiian local plate lunch then they have succeeded. I am native Hawaiian and having been born and raised in Hawaii we know what a plate lunch should be and this is it. We loved they also have Hawaiian Sun juices, musubi, and played authentic Hawaiian and island music in their restaurant. The marinade on the bbq chicken, teriyaki, and short ribs (kalbi) is spot on. The staff is friendly and patient when explaining to other customers what certain dishes they have. Keep up the great food! Best Hawaiian plate lunch in Iowa that we've found so far! We'll be back for sure!
